LLM-powered shell completion: hit Tab twice and it suggests the right command, using OpenAI, Groq, Anthropic, or a local Ollama model.

Autocomplete.sh adds AI-powered command suggestions to Bash and Zsh. Pressing Tab twice queries an LLM using context like recent shell history, environment variables, and a command's own --help output, then returns three to five relevant completions instead of the usual static tab-completion list.

It works with several LLM providers, including OpenAI, Groq, Anthropic, and local models through Ollama, and sanitizes sensitive data before anything leaves the machine when using a remote provider. It's open source under the MIT license and written in pure shell script, which keeps it portable and lightweight rather than adding a heavy runtime dependency to every terminal session.

It picked up attention on Hacker News and at AI Tinkerers meetups in Boston, mostly from developers who wanted the feel of traditional tab completion but smarter, rather than a full AI chat interface bolted onto their shell. Installation is a single script pulled over curl or wget, with an equally simple uninstall.
