Rovo Dev CLI is Atlassian's coding agent for developers who are already deep in the Atlassian ecosystem, built on top of the company's broader Rovo Software Agents platform. Rather than treating code and project management as separate concerns, it brings over 300 commands into the terminal for querying Jira tickets, Bitbucket repositories, and GitHub data directly through what Atlassian calls the Teamwork Graph.
Day to day, it completes and debugs code, writes tests, and generates documentation, but its real differentiator is avoiding the context-switching cost of jumping between a terminal, a browser tab for Jira, and another for Confluence. A developer working on a ticket can pull that ticket's context straight into their coding session instead of reading it in one tab and typing in another.
It's free to use and makes the most sense for teams whose project management already runs through Atlassian's tools, where the integration pays off. For teams outside that ecosystem, it offers less of an edge over other terminal coding agents.
