Cloud AI coding platform for teams, built around a Context Engine that indexes cross-service dependencies and runs up to 10 parallel remote agents.

Augment Code is aimed squarely at engineering teams working in large, messy, real-world codebases rather than individual developers starting fresh projects. Its Context Engine indexes call relationships and cross-service dependencies across an entire codebase, meant to solve the problem most coding assistants have in large monorepos: losing track of how a change in one service ripples into five others.

It runs IDE agents for VS Code and JetBrains for interactive work, and separately supports up to 10 autonomous Remote Agents running in parallel, each in its own sandboxed VM, for tasks that can run unsupervised in the background while a developer works on something else. That split between interactive and background agents is Augment's answer to how much autonomy to give an AI coding tool at once.

Pricing is per developer: the Indie plan is \(20 a month, and Max runs \)200 a month for teams that lean heavily on the Remote Agents feature. It competes most directly with tools like Cursor and other enterprise-focused peers that also sell context quality as the main differentiator, rather than raw model access.
