Privacy-focused AI code assistant with completion, chat, and agentic workflows, supporting SaaS, VPC, on-premises, and air-gapped deployment.

Tabnine built its reputation years before the current wave of AI coding tools, originally as a privacy-conscious alternative to sending code to someone else's servers, and that positioning has stayed central even as it added chat and agentic features. It offers real-time completions, AI chat, and agent-driven workflows for things like code review, test generation, and implementing Jira issues, inside VS Code, IntelliJ, Eclipse, Neovim, Android Studio, and more.

Its core pitch to enterprises is deployment flexibility and data control: no data retention, support for on-premises or fully air-gapped environments, zero IP leakage, and training practices designed to respect code licensing, which matters to legal and security teams more than raw model capability sometimes does.

Tabnine dropped its free plan in 2024, a notable shift for a tool that built an early user base partly on being the free, private alternative to GitHub Copilot, and now charges a premium starting around $39 a month squarely aimed at security-conscious enterprise buyers rather than individual developers.
